THE CLIENT
CaliCouponChick is a successful coupon blog that has been active since 2011. It has a strong social media backing with almost 80,000 followers on Instagram alone. On this site you can find all types of deals and coupons. Visitors can also ask questions and get advice on the art of “couponing”.
THE CHALLENGE
The site was actually shut down because it was falsely accused of being spam. It was on an old platform in Blogger and needed a revamp. The challenge was to get it up as soon as possible so that followers would not move on to other sites. Not only that, but the client was losing income every day it was down because it was not getting any clicks from the affiliate sites.
THE SOLUTION
We tried getting the site back up on Blogger but to no avail. There were issues with getting server access to retrieve files, so there was no way of getting the old site. All the previous pages and posts, four years worth of work, gone. There was only one thing to do and that was to start from scratch. Within a couple weeks we transferred the domain and integrated WordPress into the site. The client was able to start blogging right away and filling up the site with tons of content. The look and some key features of the site were finished about a week later. It is currently up and running again to full capacity with a new, more modern look.
